Friendly, professional, reliable and local driving lessons across Birmingham. One to one, starting on a quiet street, with free theory help whenever you need it.
Three people book a first lesson. You're probably one of them.
Every lesson is one to one, so it can start from wherever you actually are. Find yourself below and read how the first hour goes.
1
If it's your first ever lesson
You'll start on a quiet residential street, not a main road. The first hour is mostly about where everything is, what the clutch feels like, and getting the car moving and stopping again without an audience. That's all that's expected of you.
2
If you've put it off for years
Plenty of people learn to drive in their thirties, forties and later, and nobody in this car will treat you like a teenager. We go at the speed you can actually take in, and there's no talk of tests until you raise it.
3
If it didn't work out last time
A failed test, an instructor who shouted, a school that kept moving your slot. Whatever went wrong, the first job is to find out what you already know and rebuild your confidence from there. The same instructor and the same car every week.
What to expect
The road ahead, laid out like the signs you're learning to read.
Two lanes, one journey. Theory on the left, practical on the right, and the same person in the seat beside you for all of it. Nobody moves you on to the next exit until you're ready for it.
Theory — straight on
1
Highway Code and hazard perception
Free theory help from the first lesson if you want it. We go through the bits that don't make sense in the car, where they do.
2
Mock theory tests
Practice papers and hazard clips until the pass mark stops being a worry and starts being a habit.
3
Book your theory test
When your mock scores say you're ready, not before. We'll tell you honestly which it is.
4
Theory test passed
Now the practical test can be booked, and the two lanes start to come together.
Practical — exit right
1
First lesson on quiet roads
Controls, moving off, stopping, steering. A residential street with nobody behind you.
2
Junctions and roundabouts
Small islands first, then the bigger ones. Mirrors, signal, position, every time, until you do it without thinking.
3
Manoeuvres and parking
Bay parking, parallel parking, pulling up on the right. Practised on the streets where you'll really have to do it.
4
Mock driving test
A full run on the routes examiners use from your test centre, marked the way they'd mark it, then talked through calmly.
5
Driving test
Booked when your driving has earned it. You'll take it in the same car you learnt in.
Practical driving test preparation in Birmingham and theory test help are part of the same set of lessons. There's nothing extra to buy for the theory side.
Where you'll learn
The roads you'll actually learn on.
A Birmingham island is not the roundabout in the textbook. So before you go anywhere near the ring roads, you'll learn how islands work on the quiet ones near where you live: reading the lane markings, when to signal, and what to do when the car in front changes its mind.
As test day gets closer, lessons move onto the routes examiners really use from your test centre, and onto the terraced streets where you'll genuinely have to park between two other cars. The roundabout everyone dreads gets practised until it's just another roundabout.
The kind of street a first lesson starts on: wide, quiet, and nobody waiting behind you.

Local, one to one, and teaching Birmingham since 2006.
We've been teaching people to drive in Birmingham since 2006. Every lesson is one to one with a DVSA-approved driving instructor who is DBS-checked and regularly assessed by the DVSA, and you keep the same instructor from your first lesson to your test.
You learn in a manual Toyota Auris with dual controls, and we pick you up from your door. We also speak northern Indian languages, so if something is easier to go through in your own language, just ask.
If you haven't passed your theory yet, we'll help you with that as well, at no extra cost.
