Terms and conditions
These are the terms for learning to drive with us, set out in the order you'll meet them: before your first lesson, paying, cancelling, the lessons themselves and your driving test.
If anything here isn't clear, ask your instructor before you book. That's the best time to talk it through.
1Who can have lessons
You need to be 17, licensed and entitled to drive
Three things to have in place before your first lesson, and what happens if you're not ready for your test.
- 1.1
You must be aged 17 or over to have lessons with us.
- 1.2
You must show us a valid UK provisional driving licence before your first lesson.
- 1.3
You must be legally entitled to drive in the UK.
- 1.4
If you are not at test standard, your instructor may decline to take you to your driving test. We will always discuss this with you beforehand.
- 1.5
Any disputes are dealt with directly with your instructor.
2Payment and bookings
Every lesson is paid for before it starts
How to pay, what happens to unpaid bookings, and the rules for block bookings, prepayments and offers.
- 2.1
Payment is by cash or bank transfer, in advance, before the lesson starts.
- 2.2
A booking that has not been paid for is cancelled automatically.
- 2.3
Lessons cancelled from a block booking are charged at the normal hourly rate.
- 2.4
Prepayments are non-refundable and must be used within 6 months.
- 2.5
Offers are non-transferable.
3Cancelling a lesson
Give us 48 hours if you can't make a lesson
Cancelling or moving a lesson, and what happens if you pause a prepaid block.
- 3.1
To cancel or move a lesson, please give at least 48 hours' notice. Otherwise the full fee for the lesson is due.
- 3.2
If you pause a prepaid block of lessons for 12 weeks or more, the remaining lessons in that block are forfeited.
4Lessons, lateness and weather
When, where and how long is agreed between you and your instructor
How lessons are arranged, what happens if either of us is late, and what happens with the car and the weather.
Arranging your lessons
- 4.1
The timing, location and length of each lesson are agreed between you and your instructor.
- 4.2
You must tell your instructor about anything that affects your entitlement to drive.
Lateness
- 4.3
If your instructor is more than 5 minutes late, that time will be made up.
- 4.4
If you are late, that time is lost.
The car and the weather
- 4.5
Your instructor is not responsible for mechanical or electrical failure.
- 4.6
Bad weather may mean a lesson has to be rearranged. Cancelling at short notice when conditions are suitable for driving is chargeable.
5Your driving test
Cancelling a test needs three clear working days
The DVSA sets the notice period for cancelling a driving test, and it affects your test fee.
- 5.1
The DVSA requires three clear working days' notice to cancel a driving test.
- 5.2
If your instructor tells you within that period that you are not ready, the test fee may be lost.
- 5.3
As set out in section 1, if you are not at test standard your instructor may decline to take you to the test, and will discuss it with you beforehand.
